The world of magic, of dreams, of alternative realities echoes throughout the new
complexity modes of thought. Transcending those limitations inherent in dualist
thought patterns means opening ourselves up to reconciliation between the strict
logic of the rationalists and the free form imagining of New Age thinking. Rather
than this being to the detriment of either prejudice, it can work to the benefit of both,
freeing the scientist from his bounds and grounding the mystic in progressive action.
Dreams are possibilities, perhaps random juxtapositions of fleeting elements,
new ideas. Most innovation in the sciences relies heavily on intuition or instinct,
since logic analyses but does not create. Such steps into the unknown require the
input of what can perhaps best be called magic, synchronistic meetings of
ideas that are in the wind as it were, a crystalisation of group consciousness
hovering on a knife edge between logic and dream - the edge of chaos.
